A CASED 7mm PINFIRE PEPPERBOX POCKET-REVOLVER, UNSIGNED, serial no. 39204,
possibly of French manufacture circa 1870 but with Birmingham proofs, fluted six-shot 2in. barrel group scroll engraved over each chamber, open borderline and scroll engraved iron frame (traces of gilding), the right hand side of action bearing the serial number, the left marked 'PATENT', spurless hammer and folding trigger, smooth bag-shaped ebony grips with shell carving at the head and scroll engraved back-strap, the pommel with removable ejector-rod, complete in a fitted walnut case compartmented and lined in blue baize, burr walnut veneered lid (small losses) with vacant border engraved shield-shaped escutcheon and banner, lidded compartment for ammunition, iron cleaning rod and nickel oil-bottle
